Fares refused to publish his picture fearing his old parents who do not know that he traveled to Egypt, “I accepted the stinging defeat of the Algerian team, as I only thought of saving myself from death as soon as I left the stadium of terror. In the Cairo streets things did not change until I was taken by the Egyptian police to jail. They beat me with electrified wires which paralyzed my hands, and I did not recover only after they released me along with 15 Algerian supporters”.
